Oracle Night
On the second day of Christmas, we slept till three and read some more. I finished Paul Auster's "Oracle Night", a small book that I'm not really sure what was about. One thing I know, is that Paul Auster has gotten a new, bad habit. On every few pages, he inserts footnotes containing whole stories, and they can span over three to four pages. Bad Auster. He writes good, never gets directly boring, but this book really has nothing happening in it. I read Mr Vertigo. It had a story. I read the one about the silent movie maker (The title always slips), and at least it built up to something. Oracle Night can be summarized as "Main character is an author who had an accident. He fears writer's block, but gets away quite well thanks to a Portugese note book sold by a Chinese businessman who also arranges oral sex from a stripper for him. Has conversations with wife and wife's godfather. Godfather's son is a junkie who breaks into the author's apartment.". The End.
Comments:
"He writes good", Mikal? Seriøst.
